Day 30: Psalm 27

I’ve been married to Bryan for 32 years;  we have two grown children and two grandchildren who live in Maryland.  I am originally from the East Coast (North Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland) but have been in Texas for 7 years!  Bryan and I have attended Lighthouse most of those years and have been active in Life Groups since the beginning. Our Life Group is our family here in Texas and I can’t imagine life without these wonderful people who daily encourage, love, pray and do life with Bryan and me.

Psalm 27 reminds me that the Lord is my light, my salvation and my strength. Verse 4 speaks of dwelling in the house of the Lord and beholding His beauty. That is my heart’s cry!  To see the Lord and His beauty in all things that He allows in my life!   Life happens to us all;  during my life I have walked through many valleys.  Both of my children were born with medical emergencies.  Our daughter had to have a blood transfusion before the doctors had time to test her blood type, so by faith we had to give permission that the blood given would save her, which it did.  Our son was born with a Coarctation of the Aorta and had heart surgery at 3 days old.  I have experienced the death of a loved one from cancer and many of the everyday struggles that try all families.  However, through it all, when I wait upon the Lord, He strengthens my heart (v14).  God is so good!!  During the darkest night, He has always been with me never forsaking me!

I have also seen many days of blessings:  Grown children who are wonderful people, two sweet grandchildren and a Godly husband who walks with me side by side through life.  I’ve been blessed to know women of God who shared their wisdom with me and have friends that love the Lord and love me.  I have seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (v 13).

Father God, I thank you today for your goodness in my life!  I thank you that through the Blood of Jesus Christ, I can dwell in your house and see your beauty in every aspect of my life.  I thank you that when darkness comes, you shine the light of your Glory into every area, lighting the way that I should go.  (John 8:12)  I seek your will Lord knowing that you work everything for my good (Romans 8:28)  and that you are a loving Father giving good gifts to your children (Matthew 7:11).  Help me to see Your beauty in all things today, Lord, knowing that I am held in the palm of your hand  (John 10:28) and that I am covered in Your love.  (I John 4:16)  In Jesus' name, Amen!
