My name is Carol Adkins. My husband Jeff, daughters - Maddison and Alayna - have been coming to Lighthouse for about seven years. Our eldest, Blake, lives with his family in Chicago - they have two daughters. I love to travel (especially, to see my granddaughters and, also, our daughter, Alayna, who resides in Colorado now), snuggling up and reading a good book, and going out....for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner…. and spending time with family & friends. This past year, God has been challenging, blessing, and stretching me with leading the Women’s ministry. I have been incredibly blessed by a team of God fearing, immensely talented ladies in our church family - they are what makes our vision exist.
I love how God gives us the Psalms so we can see different writers, personalities, and expressed devotion to Him. In Psalm 103, the first verse expresses praising the Lord with my soul and my in most being. I love that statement! “My inmost being” is my everything with in me that I could possibly use to praise His holy name! Wow, that is exactly how I want to praise Him - totally surrendered! Then the writer continues on to tell us how much God does for us, who He is, and how great His love is for us! We need to meditate on each of these verses. How many of us feel unloved so many times - we aren’t good enough, we don’t have enough, we don’t measure up enough, and/or we don’t look right enough? I have been there so many times in my life, I’m sure you have also at some point. I hold tight to verses 2 - 17. I have to consistently remind myself, this is who God is and this is how much He loves me - no matter what the world, my situations, or circumstances try to tell me. I am loved by the One who established His throne in Heaven and is ruler over all!! The Lord loves us and wants to bless us more than we could ever imagine we could be!! Praise the Lord!!!
Heavenly Father, I pray that those reading this today would firmly know who You are! That they would have the confidence and assurance of Your love. May they walk in completeness of who You formed them to be, knowing You have placed all things before them. Nothing that happens in their life is a surprise to You. This may be the darkest valley they are walking through right now, may they know You are ever-present guiding them, lifting them, and giving them their strength. For You did not promise them a life without hardships, but Your promise was that You would always be with them through all things. They may experience miracles and blessings on this Earth, but it is in Heaven that they will receive their true reward and live a life without sorrow, sickness, sin and death.
Thank you Lord for your compassion, love, grace, and mercy. Thank you for all the good things You give us, even though we do not deserve them. You are a holy, omnipotent, omnipresent God! Thank you that from everlasting to everlasting Your love is with those who fear You! Amen.
“Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise His holy name!”
